Pasty-Powered Team Raise Over £500 For Cancer Charities On Night Walk.

A pasty-powered team from Crantock Bakery has raised over £500 for two cancer charities on a moonlit night walk.

The four ladies took just under three hours to complete the 11 mile “Midsummer Madness” walk from Padstow to Wadebridge and back along the Camel Trail on Saturday 27th June.

“It was a beautiful evening to be out, absolutely gorgeous,” said Catherine Webster from Troon, who works as Crantock Bakery’s Marketing Manager.

“The walk went very well. We had a new moon so there was a little bit of moonlight coming off the water, and it looked lovely along the estuary. We finished just after midnight - it took us two and three-quarter hours there and back - and we’re all really pleased that we managed to raise such a good amount for the two charities.”

Joining Catherine on the walk were Katie Nicholson from near Bugle, Rachel Yelland from Roche and Louise May from Liskeard - all of whom work at the bakery near Indian Queens.

The team raised over £500 for the charities through a combination of sponsorship pledges from friends, family and colleagues, and donations collected while taking part on the walk. Donations can still be made by visiting the company’s page on the Just Giving website at: www.justgiving.com/crantockbakery

Over 160 people took part in the event which raised over £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
