All written commissions are fulfilled by Jim Michell. After completing a Masters degree in English Literature at The University of Edinburgh, Jim studied for a postgraduate NCTJ Newspaper Journalism qualification. He began his career as a reporter on weekly local newspapers, and in 1999 he joined the UK's longest established surfing magazine, Wavelength, becoming Deputy Editor in 2000. He has been freelance since 2002.

With over 10 years experience as a reporter, editor and freelance writer, Jim's articles and photography have been published regularly in the international surfing media, books, national newspapers and magazines.

This grounding in a broad range of disciplines is the perfect background for commercial copywriting, providing well-researched, polished text for use in brochures, websites, or advertising campaigns.

Barefoot Media also act as a resource for journalists or organisations requiring specialist research and information about surfing and other action sports.
