The brief
Emily Scott's restuarant, housed in a 15th century fishermans cottage in the heart of Port Isaac, needed a new website. She also wanted to promote The Harbour Loft: newly-refurbished holiday accommodation above the restaurant.
We were also asked to create new branding for the accommodation to fit with existing branding for The Harbour.
Planning
We carried out a web audit of the previous restaurant website before meeting with Emily and our design team to discuss the specifications of the new site and offer our recommendations.
We then conducted in-depth interviews with Emily as research for the copywriting before carrying out keyword research to ensure that the content was optimised to rank well for searches on Google.
Photography
With the website concept designs completed, we provided the commissioned photographer, David Griffen, with a brief to capture the picturesque location, décor and delicious food.
Two separate photo shoots were needed: one for the restaurant showing the interior, food and staff, and a second of the newly renovated Loft.
Design
With frequently changing menus and availability, the website was built using an easily-updatable content management system.
The two separate sections for the restaurant and accommodation were based on a common design template to ensure brand continuity. The Harbour Loft site features an interactive floor plan linking to the accommodation details.
Results
Since the Harbour Restaurant website has been launched, Emily has experienced her busiest ever year and the website has received 84.32% increase in new visitors and a 26% increase in page views.

The Harbour Restaurant in Port Isaac is a finalist in the ‘Restaurant Website - Independent’ category for the Caterer and Hotelkeeper Web Awards 2011.
The website is the only Cornish representative to be shortlisted in the national awards, which recognise digital marketing excellence in the restaurant and hospitality sectors.
